I help people with out-of-control anxiety learn how to manage their symptoms through the practice of mindfulness because mindfulness practice keeps us in the here and now so that we stop living in the past or ruminating about the future. Anxiety gets in the way of so many things and prevents us from enjoying our day-to-day experiences.
Managing and minimizing anxiety can be a complex process as it varies from person to person, but here are some general strategies that we will work on to help you learn how to manage your anxiety so you can live a life free of angst and fear:
● Recognize and accept your anxiety.
● Acknowledge that anxiety is a normal part of life, and it’s okay to feel anxious at times.
● Acceptance can help you approach anxiety with a more compassionate and understanding mindset.
● Deep breathing and relaxation techniques: Practice deep breathing exercises to activate your body’s relaxation response.
● Challenge negative thoughts which often contribute to anxiety. Learn to identify negative or irrational thoughts and challenge them with more realistic and positive alternatives.
● Engage in regular physical exercise: Exercise is not only beneficial for your physical health but also for your mental well-being. Regular exercise can reduce anxiety by releasing endorphins, improving sleep, and reducing stress levels.
● Prioritize self-care: Make self-care a priority in your life. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, such as hobbies, spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness or meditation, or taking warm baths. Taking care of your physical and emotional needs can help minimize anxiety.
It is important to remember that everyone’s journey with anxiety is different, but I was able to get my terrible anxiety under control by using the reduction strategies I will teach you the way I turned my anxiety around.
